Finally started painting my Tyranids again
Recently, I finally decided to get off my rear end and start painting my Tyranid horde once again. Up until then, the only real paint the figures had seen was black primer, if that much, as you can see from the picture taken at the last game played at my house.
I started with my termagents. On top of the black primer, I added a hefty layer of drybrushed dark brown. After that, I painted the armor plates a nice red color and I even managed to get a drop of a phosphorescent green into their little eye sockets.
I am still a little unsure what to do with their weaponry though. I could keep the main body of the guns brown like the rest of the figure, but then it looks a little bare. I could also paint them red like the armor plates on the figures. I've also thought of drybrushing a little ivory-like color on them. I've had good luck before with that on top of brown, but I'm a little unsure how it would look with the overall figure. I've also thought about trying a color with both red and brown in it, like a maroon or burgundy. A glossy black has also been suggested to me, which would certainly fit in with the intergalactic cockroach theme I'm going for.
